前半句中为什么两个is呢？有人解释是than the sun is ,那为什么要用倒装呢，就算是倒装，恢复后应为The Moon is much closer to Earth than the Sun is, 那么the sun is 后补充完整了应该是什么呢？谢谢！

就是倒装，恢复正常语序后应为The Moon is much closer to the Earth than the Sun is to the Earth 。 the sun is 后重复部分省略。

than 引导的比较装语从句中，重复的谓语部分省去，但助动词、情态动词和系动词be留下。正式语中助动词、情态动词和系动词be常提在主语之前，口语中常被省去。

当然，than 作为关系代词另当别论（这是语法家门的争论）。

B is right answer. Actually, this sentence is wrong. It should be "The moon is much closer to Earth than the Sun..." or "The moon is much closer to Earth than it is to the Sun." By given question, only B sounds the right answer.
