1、high作形容词时，意思是“高的”“高度的”，形容高出地面或其他物体的东西，也可修饰任何比普通或一定标准高的事物，意思是“高级的”“重要的”（只用作定语）。引申还可作“极度的”“强烈的”“价值高的”“数量大的”“奢侈的”，指超过了一般的标准。
2、high还可作“高尚的”解（一般只能用作定语）,指人时表示人的思想、目标、境界很高，引申还可作“全盛的”解，作此解时，一般只能用作定语且没有比较级和最高级。
