1. The damage that trucks do to highways escalatesdramatically with the weight borne per axle. New regulations increase themaximum permitted vehicle weight; these regulations will therefore allow ontothe highway trucks capable of doing even more damage than those currentlypermitted.
The major weakness of the passage above is that theargument
A. Fails to establish that the level of damage done bytrucks is a serious problem.
B. Omits evidence about one of the two relevant factors.
C. Ignores the possibility that careful driving canlessen damage to highways.
D. Presumes that trucks are the only vehicles capable ofcausing substantial damage to highways.
E. Presumes thatsomething is bound to happen just because it is allowed to happen.
2. The Rivera Art Museum recently began chargingadmission. The resulting decline in visitors has been far larger than at otherlocal museums, which have also begun charging admission. The magnitude of thedecline might be due to the Rivera's location near government offices. Becausean admission charge is most discouraging to those who plan a short visit, it islikely that government workers who formerly made brief visits during lunchtimeand after work now do not.
Which of the following, if true, most seriouslyundermines the proposed explanation?
A. The fee for admission to the Rivera is no larger thanthat charged by other museums.
B. The Rivera does not keep track of how long individualvisitors stay in the museum.
C. The decline in visitor to the Rivera has been nogreater on workdays than it has been on nonworking days.
D. The museum with the smallest decline in visitors isthe most popular with visitors from other countries.
E. In the period between the announcement that therewould be an admissions charge and its actual introduction, there was anincrease in visitors at the Rivera

这里的注定会发生的事即指题目的"will allow onto the highway trucks capable of doing more damage"
