After the founding of the People's Republic of China on October 1, 1949, the celebration of National Day changed several times.
In the early years of the founding of the People's Republic of China (1950 -- 1959), the National Day held a large-scale celebration every year, while holding a military parade.
In September 1960, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council decided to reform the National Day system in line with the principle of building a country through diligence and thrift. Since then, from 1960 to 1970, every year the National Day held a grand rally and mass parade in front of tiananmen square, but no military parade.
From 1971 to 1983, National Day was celebrated on October 1 every year in Beijing with a large garden party and other forms, without mass parade. In 1984, National Day 35th anniversary, held a grand National Day parade and mass celebration parade.
In the following ten years, National Day was celebrated in other forms, and no National Day military parade or mass celebration parade was held. On October 1, 1999, the 50th anniversary of National Day, a grand National Day military parade and mass celebration parade was held.
It was the last great National Day celebration of the People's Republic of China in the 20th century.
