Do you think there is a ghost in the world? More than 20 years ago, a student jumped from the top of the clock tower in the middle of the University of Birmingham campus in England. He died only because he failed his final exam.
After his death, a superstition (迷信) began: Anyone who walks under the clock will have bad luck in his studies. Years later, students there still remember the story of the tower. Although it is situated (位于) in the second largest city in Britain, the campus is green and quiet. The grass around the tower has been worn away by the feet of students who refuse to walk in a straight line and pass underneath.
The university was forced to pave extra paths so students could walk to their classrooms without passing under the most terrible area in campus.
I would never like to go under the clock tower. Whether or not this story is true I don’t know, but I don’t want to risk it. My degree is hard enough as it is! Whenever I look at the clock tower, I feel a ghostly horror
