Recently, Google's AlphaGo defeated the world Go Champion, which has once again made AI a hot topic. How will AI affect our life? There exist two opposite opinions to this question. Some people welcome the progress and expect AI to benefit mankind in more fields, while some others fear that AI will eventually get out of control. Both of the views have strong supporters.
Before giving a resonable and responsible answer, let's make it clear in academic and application view. AI can be divided into three main categories: weak AI, strong AI and super AI.
Weak AI is good at some single aspect, for example, AlphaGo is very adept at playing chess games and it is very possible that this kind of AI products can defeat human beings easily. But when you ask them to take care of the patients or risk people from fire, they can do nothing. In fact, what they can do is acurate and fast calculations guided by programmers which are written by human.
Weak AI will take place of some jobs which are repeated labor, such as automobile manufacture, canteen servants, street cleaners, and relieve people from the hard manual work. But at the same time, more novel jobs will be created, such as the supervisory control of the machines and the data analysis.
Strong AI is much powerful in thinking ability than weak AI, and it can rival human beings in more aspects. With huge amount of data and knowledge and complex and subtle algorithms, scientist,researchers and engineers make strong AI capable of logical reasoning and deduction, judgement, and even feelings in some levels. But remember, strong AI is still the product of human beings, and they are under the control of human. With strong AI products, people will enjoy more interesting things, such as robot servants, teachers and friends. But some challenges emerge in the moral values. For example,is robot a man? Does robot has human right? Can we kill a robot when we don't need it any more?
Super AI, which is the future trend of AI development. With the self-learning and self-error correction capabilities, strong AI will enhance greatly in learning and creating aspects. Some people doubt that machine can think. But in fact, many machines with super AI software can think much bettern than man in some special aspects, such as astronomy search. Nowadays the top universities in the world are focusing on the development of super AI. So I predict that super AI may be so strong that people will not have to work any more. They just let the AI machines work. But with evil attention, I'm afraid that super AI will control the world in dozens of years.They may force human beings as their servants, or derive their lives at will.
