有一天，一位老人家在街上散步的时候，他看到一群男孩，年龄都在10至12岁之间，围住一条狗。老人家不想让他们伤害狗，所以他走过去，问：「你们想对这条狗干些什么吗？”
其中一个男生回答说：「这狗走丢了，认不到回家的路。我们都想领它走，所以我们决定，撒谎撒得最出色的能把狗领走。」
当然，老人家很生气，大声的喊道：「你们这些男生不该比赛撒谎！」然后，他讲了10分钟的“不该撒谎”的道里。他一开始是这样说的：「难道你们不晓得撒谎是错的吗？」结束的时候，他说：「当我在你们这个年龄的时候，我从不撒过谎。」
当老人家正怀疑男生是否明白他所说的，最小的男孩深深地叹了口气，说：「好吧！把狗给他吧！」

An old man was walking down the street one day when he saw a group of boys. They were all between 10 and 12 years of age and they surrounded a dog. The old man didn't want them TO HURT the dog, so he went over and asked "What are you doing with that dog?"
One of the boys answered, "This dog got LOST and he can't fund his way home. We all want him, so we decide that the person will get the dog if he can tell the biggest lie."
Of course, the old man was very angry and shouted loudly, "You boys SHOULDN'T have a contest about telling lies!" He then began a ten-minute lesson about lying. His beginning was like this, "Don't you know it's wrong to tell lies?" and he ended with, "When I was your age, I HAVE NEVER told a lie."
Just as the old man was beginning to wonder whether the boys understood him or not, the SMALLEST boy gave a deep sigh and said, "All right, give him the dog."
