What is language for? Some people seem to think it's for practicing grammar rules and learning lists of words? The longer the lists, the better. That’s wrong. Language is for the exchange of ideas and information. It’s meaningless knowing all about a language if you can’t use it freely. 语言所来为何，有人可能会认为是为了练习语法规则和积累单词。单词越多越好，错。语言是用来交流观点和信息的，精通语言却不能自由运用是没有任何意义的。我认识的很多学生掌握了几百个语法规则，却不能正确流畅的讲话。他们怕出错。说外语时不能怕犯错。本国人照样会犯错。萧伯纳说过：外国人经常很正确的使用英语，在英语里犯了语言错误。犯错者达到一定数量，规则也就荡然无存了。以前错的现在可能就是对的，人类不仅创造历史，同样创造语言。但是一个民族只能创造自己的语言而不是其他人的语言。中国学生需要重视语法，但是也不能过度重视。他们应该把交流放到第一位
