The scientific and technological powers which dominated the economy as well as the technology of the whole world, the international corporate giants of the IT industry and research institutions of World-Class Universities etc., they all show keen interest in the Internet of Things, and the development trend of the Internet of Things is formed by the initiative of the government and the close cooperation of the High-Tech Corporations as well as the research institutions like the universities. This paper first gives a brief summary of the development history of the Internet of Things. And according to the current international situation, the paper also illustrates the causes of the its emergence and development, the contemporary development as well as the problems occurred and the research direction. Then the comprehensive anatomy/analysis of the concept of the Internet of Things is achieved /realized by the definition, the international standard and the system architecture of the Internet of Things as well as the systematically summary of the main technology involved. Finally the key techniques of the Internet of Things are mainly introduced and they mainly include (the following): RFID of the objects marking/identification, the technique for a Wireless Sensor Network relying on the communication mode of ZigBe, the Core Bearer Network (advanced Radio Communication Technique and the Internet Technology of the next generation )required for the data transmission and the Cloud Computing of the date processing and service and so on.
