昨晚下了一夜雪，积雪铺在地上，厚厚的一层。史密斯太太清早起来，推开门，惊奇地发现院子里有几个奇怪的脚印……史密斯太太一家人各抒己见，猜测这神秘的来客是谁？

Last night it snowed heavily and the ground was covered by the thick snow. Mrs. Smith gets up early in the morning and sees several strange footprints on the yard. Whose prints do they belong to（它们是谁的脚印）? The Smiths start to discuss（开始讨论）.
Mr. Smith thinks it might be an animal, which was lost（迷路了） during such a heavy snow and happened to break into their house（恰好不小心闯入他们家）. Mrs. Smith believes it could have been a thief, who intended to rob them（是小偷，想抢劫）. However, John, their son, insists that it must be an E.T. , who couldn’t find way home（他们的儿子John坚持认为是个外星人，找不到回家的路了）.
