That day was like any other day in his life. After school Michael walked past the shop in the street corner. He stopped to look at the front row of shoes, and he felt sorry for himself. He really wanted to have a pair of shoes for his birthday.
He walked away sadly and thought of what to tell his mother. He knew she would give him anything if she could. But he also knew very well she had little money. He decided not to go home at once,as he looked worried and his mother would notice it. So he went to the park and sat down on the grass. Then he saw a boy in a wheel chair. He noticed that the boy moved the wheels with his hands. Michael looked at him carefully and was surprised to see that the boy had no feet. He looked down at his own feet. “It is much better to be without shoes than without feet.” he thought. There was no reason for him to feel so sorry and sad. He went away and smiled, thinking he was more lucky in his life.

如往日一样，放学后Michael走过路口的那家商店。他停下脚步去看那些放在第一排的鞋子，感到自己很不体面。他真想在他生日的时候有一双那样的鞋子
他伤心的走着心理想着怎么给他妈妈说。他知道妈妈会给她所有他妈妈能做到的。但是他知道他妈妈钱真的不多。他决定不立即回家，因为他看起来很失落，他妈妈也许会注意到这一切。于是他走向公园然后坐在草坪上。这是他看到一个坐轮椅的小男孩。他注意到那个小男孩用自己的双手移动轮椅。Michael认真的看着他而且吃惊的发现那个男孩没有双脚。他看着自己的双脚。“没有鞋总比没有脚好”他想。他没有再感到伤心和失望的理由了。他带着笑容回了家，想着他的生命真的很幸运
