Homophones are really confusing in our daily lives, and they can even cause jokes sometimes. I remember once in my English class, the teacher taught us some new words. After she explained the meanings of the words, she picked up a student to make a sentence using one of them.
"Johny!"the teacher called,"make a sentence with the word 'mare', I've just taught you how to use it."
"mayor?"just woken up from a daydream, Johny thought,"hadn't we learned it last week?"
But without any further thought, our poor Johny came up with his brilliant sentence:" The mayor(actually "mare" to the rest of the class) on the platform asked a question."
