1. NewCryptanalysis on 6-round Khazad AbstractIn this paper, we study the meet-in-the-middle attackcombining with square-type property againstblock cipher Khazad. We take use of a 2-round square-typedistinguishing property of Khazad. Basedon this 2-round square-type property as well as anobservation for the key schedule of Khazad, we canapply the meet-in-the-middle attack penetrating up to 6rounds Khazad. Compared with the previouscryptanalysis results on Khazad, we give an attack whosetargeted number of rounds is more than anyexisting attacks in a single key attack’s scenario.Moreover, we study an approach to searchrelated-key differentials for Khazad, which helps todevelop a new related-key boomerang attack on 7rounds of Khazad. This is also the best targeted numberof rounds in previous literature in the relatedkey attack’s scenario. Finally, we carry out experimentson a sample Khazad cipher to confirm theeffectivenessof our theoretical cryptanalysis mentioned in this paper.
