any milk前面用is还是are

Is there any milk in the bottle?为什么不用are呢?
还有 There is some coffee on the table,too.明明是复数为何不用are?

milk , coffee, water, rice, meat 等都是物质名词,属不可数名词.
不可数名词做主语,谓语当然用单数了.
如：There is no water in the cup.
There is a bowl of rice on the table .
析：
物质名词不可数,所以需要一些表示量的名词短语或形容词来表达他们的量的多少.如,a piece of ... a cup of... 等
There is some coffee on the table, too. 桌上也有一些咖啡.
some 既可修饰可数名词,也可修饰不可数名词.
虽然从汉语思维的角度来看,是复数；
但从英语思维的角度来看,（some） coffee 不可数,所以谓语用单数.
注意：
There are two bowls of rice on the table.
析：
主语是：two bowls of rice 强调两碗的量
或者说主语中所修饰的中心词是bowls,所以谓语要用复数
