这时的John Cena还是反派，但由于具有独特个性，很明显已经得到观众的认同，人气急升。在Survivor Series前转为正派，并加入Angle队。这时超过300磅的Rikishi已不算什么，因为他在Survivor Series成功用绝招FU对付500磅的BigShow，并取得最后胜利。可以说，转为正派的John Cena能令他更上一层楼,前途无可限量.
就在2005年的经过了US Champion之后又战胜了JBL获得了WWE Champion，这时候的Cena可是一个观众喜欢的巨星，由于种种原因从SmackDown转自Raw！冠军之后他经过了Chris Jerrico,Kurt Angle，RVD,Edge等种种敌人，但是最后都以自己独特的打法保持住了自己的冠军头衔和观众中心里的地位~！
