1、你理解的是对的，因为degrees是复数，所以后面应该用them. 但是由于后面说的是把荣誉学位授予了一个特定的人，正常情况下不会是给一个人两个学位，所以应改为one，指代one degree.
2、用and so连接起来的两部分和用and连接的是一样的，必须是结构上平行的成分，所以这个地方的动词应该和前面的were一样，采用一般过去时，把having改为had.
3、projected应该改为projects。discovered之后的宾语从句整个是用一般现在时写成的（表示这是个客观事实），这个地方也应该一致。
4、错在搭配不当，现在这样写是说很多人“拥有”了最低工资的增长，“拥有这个增长”逻辑不通，可以改为despite。
5、喝汽油这种事情是不会发生的，这个句子是虚拟语气，所以要把can改为could。
