在动词(短语)+(介词)宾语后面用动词不定式(加 to do)是常见的英语表达方式。用在带有宾语的动词短语后的动词不定式通常有三种句子功能:作宾语补足语、宾语后置定语和状语。
作宾语补足语:用以表达对宾语的补充信息。用作宾补的不定式不可或缺,否则语义表达不完整。例:
Many parents do not allow their children to leave home after 9 pm. (to leave home after 9 pm 不能省略,否则句子语义不完整)
We expect our students to come to school in time. (to come to school in time 是对学生的期待,不可或缺)
作宾语后置定语:用来修饰宾语,以限定所修饰的宾语的语义范畴。例:
