Student B You and your friend have different plans for National Day Holiday. Your friend asks you for advice and even persuades you go with him/her. You explain your “Going home” plan is better than your friend’s travelling plan.
Task 2: College Courses
In our university, we often hear some complaints from the students about the courses they have taken: some say many courses are so boring, some say there are too many courses.
Student A should try to put forward some similar complaints
Student B should try to make some explanations or propose some solutions from the standpoint of school headmaster.
Task 3: Internet
Student A: You like to surf the net because you can travel around the world, do e-shopping, e-cash and send email to friends. The Internet is an integral part of society now and everyone worships it. You think that modern people cannot live a life without the Internet. Your friend B thinks surfing the Internet brings many side effects. Argue with him/her.
Student B: You don’t like to surf the Internet. According to you, Web surfers become more and more isolated, and they spend less time with their families, creating a tense family relationship. Besides, sleep and work can be interrupted if one overspends time on line. Argue with Student A.
Task 4: Obstacles
Student A tries to act like a person who feels very discouraged by several failures: bad performance in college entrance examination, getting an unfavorable major, not being able to do well in school course and personal communication, while student B should act to be a psychiatrist who tries to encourage him and tell him how to tackle difficulties with a positive attitude.
Task 5: Job Expectation
There are more and more people looking for jobs every year, but they have different views about what kind of job they should choose. Student A focus their attention on the jobs that promise high salaries. Student B: show a preference for those jobs that offer chances to learn skills and advancement possibilities. A and B argue.
Task 6: Is a test of oral English necessary?
As is known to you, oral English test is added to College English Test as an optional (选择性的) part. That is, if you get marks higher than 550 in Band 4 or Band 6, you will have a chance to take part in the oral test. Some students welcome this oral test while others don’t think it necessary. What’s your opinion on this oral test? Do you think it’s necessary, and why? What’s the purpose for learning a foreign language: to communicate with people by using it or just memorize the grammar?
