Good morning / afternoon ladies and gentlemen. We're here today to discuss whether to construct a shopping mall in the centre of the city. Have you all received a copy of today's agenda?
Now, let's get started. First of all, I'd like to point out that this meeting is very important to this council and citizens of this city. A decision must be reached soon before the deadline in just 2 months, or XXX Enterprise with pull out of the project then the city will lost the opportunity to create new jobs for the citizens.
But first thing first, let's go over the report from the last meeting, and from there we can work out what went wrong there, so it can help us correcting our mistakes. Let's start with the public oppositions. How do we make people to believe the project is good for the city as a whole, more benefits to people than harm. such as creating more jobs and give shoppers more choices. Secondly, how to handle existing businesses' petitions.
In my opinion, make sure the the mall is to be constructed safely and also demand on work safety for constructing workers over the project is the most important thing of all. But as the chairman of this council meeting, I would like to hear how do you all feel about this? Please give each of your own thought orderly, and allow others express themselves with no interruption please.
