more than与more ... than的区别：

1、more than的主要用法有：

(1) 后接数词，表示“多于”(= over)。如：

more than a mile. 一英里多。 more than 50 students. 五十多个学生。

(2) 后接名词、动词或从句，表示“不只是”(= not only)。如：

He is more than a father to her. 他待她胜过父亲。

He more than smiled, but laughed. 他不只是微笑，而是放声大笑。

The result was much more than I imagined.结果远远超过我的想像。

(3) 后接形容词、副词或分词, 表示“极其”、“非常”(= very,extremely)。如：

She was more than pleased. 她十二分高兴。

He was more than upset by the accident. 这个意外事故使他非常心烦意乱。

2、more ... than主要用于同一个人或物在两个不同性质或特征等方面的比较(比较级必须加 more，不能用加词尾 -er 的方式)，往往可理解为“与其……不如”。如：

He was more frightened than hurt. 他伤倒不算什么，可受惊不小。

注意事项：
