1.After school activities in the UK
This is an essay for The International Student Awards 2004 which is run by the British Council.
It's an award scheme for those international students who are making the most of their time in the UK.
To get a rough impression of my extracurricular activities,please start from the 4th paragraphs.
Please do not worry about me; I am healthy and happy here.We have just had a party last Wednesday organized by the college,nice meals and nice karaoke songs,great fun.
I finally received an offer from Imperial College London.I am so happy that because my hard work has been paid off.I still remember the day when I first told you that I wanted to go to UK to continue my study then go to Imperial College.You,father and I had a long argument,now everything seems to be clear,even father will agree,we made a right decision.
I missed the tough competition of the University Entrance Exams in our country,but I entered a brand new one in UK which is not only solving hard questions.I have to work hard on my studies,keep my room tidy,cook for myself etc as I am away from you.You chose a state college for me because you want me to be more independent,I think now I am proud to tell you that I am now indeed.

Nowadays,after-class activities are becoming more and more popular in high schools.In our school,there are various kinds of activities,for example,arts and sports.We enjoy them very much.Playing football and reading stories are my favorites which do me lots of good.Besides building my body and enriching my knowledge,they also free me from the heavy work of study.
Here I have some suggestion.To students,you'd better choose the activities which interest you and suit you; to school,they should organize more activates for students and leave students more time for activates by giving them less home work.
Dear friends,please actively take part in after-class activates,which will not only make your school life colorful,but also improve your learning.如今,中学生的负担很重,因为他们一整天都要在学校学习.课后,他们的父母还要带他们去参加各种各样的兴趣班.但是,在我看来,课后活动和学习一样重要.通过参加课后活动,中学生可以学到从课本上学不到的东西.比如,通过踢足球或者打篮球,学生可以培养他们的团队精神和竞争意识.此外,学校不仅仅是学习知识的地方.学校也是一个交友,玩耍和改善个性的地方.而且,所有这些都可以通过参加课后活动实现.因此,记得多花时间在课后活动上.

I am a primary school student.In school,I have four classes in the morning and two in the afternoon.Usually,the classes are over at about half past four.So I have much time to have fun.We students have many activities after class.For example,I like playing badminton and table tennis.Some of my classmates like playing basketball and football.There is a gym in my school.It’s a popular place,too.My school encourages students to do exercise after class.So my school provides us many places and equipment.I like taking part in various activities after class.It makes me happy.
