5. ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS OF EQUIPMENTS
5.1 GENERAL
A. Equipments, motors and materials shall be new and designed for environmental
conditions stated on document P5SL-0000-25TS-0001,”General Site Conditions”.
B. All equipment shall be designed to withstand seismic conditions of “Zone 4 - UBC,
1997”. Local design shall be according to Chilean Code Nch. 2369, 2003 or
Argentinean Code Impres – Cirsoc 103, seismic zone 3, depending on the location
where the equipment will be installed.
C. Other equipments shall be derated for altitude in terms of voltage, current and powerrating of equipment. Derating factors shall comply with ANSI and NEMA Standards
and defined in N° P5SL-0000-65DC-0001, ”Electrical Design Criteria”.
D. All electrical equipment furnished will have enclosures approved for environmental
conditions where the equipment will be installed. For outdoor non hazardous
locations, NEMA 3, 3R, 4 and 4X enclosures could be used. For indoor non
hazardous locations, NEMA 1 or 12 enclosures could be used.
E. When the electrical equipments are installed in a hazardous classified area, the
equipments shall be designed to meet the area classification according to indicated in
paragraphs 3.C and 3.D.
F. The color of equipments shall be in accordance with the following table:

5.2 MOTORS, GENERAL
A. Motors shall be premium efficiency type and will be according to the following
requirements:

B. Induction Motors shall be in accordance with technical specifications N° P5SL-0000-
65TS-0006 (Low voltage induction motors) or P5SL-0000-65TS-0007 (Medium voltage
induction motors).
C. Motors shall have sufficient cooling to provide the maximum service factor horse-power
shown when operating at site conditions defined on Technical Specification “General
Site Condition”, without exceeding the appropriate temperature rise limits specified.
5.3 MOTOR CONTROL CENTER (MCC)
A. Except for isolated individual motors, all 380 V motor starters and packaged
equipment feeders will be mounted in unitized motor control centers, class 600 V,
NEMA 12 enclosure for indoor installation.
B. The Motor Control Center design shall be according to the P5SL-0000-65TS-0005,
Technical Specification for Motor Control Centers.
