Dear Tom :
Glad to read your letter. To learn Chinese, we should try to speak and write in Chinese, and also, we need listen more Chinese. In China, we can get enough chances to do these. At first, PINYIN is very important, when we can spell PINYIN right, we can speak Chinese right. About writing in Chinese, each Chinese word is a fairy which can speak a story. We should remember how it be written, and its meaning. At last, more speak in Chinese, we`ll know more about those fairies.
