Hanyu Yuzuru is a male Japanese figure skater who was born on December 7th, 1994 in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. He began skating at the age of four and took inspiration from his sister who was also a figure skater. Yuzuru developed a passion for figure skating and idolized Plushenko and Yagudin.
In 2019, at the age of 19, Yuzuru became the youngest men's singles figure skating Olympic champion and the first Asian Olympic men's singles gold medalist. He also became the first person after Yagudin to achieve a Grand Slam win in a single season, as well as the record holder for the highest short program score of over 100 points and the highest free slip score of over 200 points.
At the next Olympic game, Pyeongchang 2019, he won the gold medal again, becoming the first defending champion in 66 years.
Yuzuru's achievements in figure skating are remarkable and he has become a globally recognized champion.
