1. Under the Civil Asset Forfeiture Reform Act(CAFRA), any person asserting an interest in the property must file a claim without posting a cost bond if all CAFRA requirements were previously complied with, in default of which the seized property will be declared forfeited and disposed of in accordance with law. The claim must be filed with the FP&F Officer, at the San Juan Customhouse, within twenty(20) days from the date of the first publication; except in those instances were previously notification is not received, the claim must be filed within thirty(30) days from the date of the last publication.
2. Under all Non-CAFRA and CAFRA cases in which CAFRA requirements were not complied with, any person asserting an interest in the property must file a claim and cost bond in the sum of $5,000.00 or 10 percent of the value of the property, whichever is lower, but not less than $250.00, in default of which the seized property will be declared forfeited and disposed of in accordance with law. The claim and cost bond must be filed with the FP&F Officer, at the address found above, within 20 days from the date of the first publication.
