I won't browse any web to find you the information. Let me tell you my life here for 20 years.
For the whole country except Southern British Columbia (Vancouver) and Southern Ontario (Toronto): very, very cold.
Southern Ontario: very cold.
Southern British Columbia: cold.
In the winter 1999, the city government of Toronto called in the Federal military to dig us out from the snowstorm.
In the winter 2001, one morning, I opened the door to go to work, only to discover my house was buried under the snow, up the second floor. It took me 3 days to dig out.
In a winter (forgot when), there was an ice storm, not snow storm) turning the whole Eastern Canada from Ontario to Newfoundland into an icefield without heat and electricity for about a week.
These are extreme examples. How about daily lives? That's not bad.
When it is minus 30C out there, I would jump into my car in the garage, drive to work, and then go home after 8 hours. We go to inside shopping mall, so weather is not a concern. That's why in Edmonton, Alberta, there is the biggest mall in the world. Besides shops, restaurants and movie theatres, there are a theme park with all rides and a water park to swim in the winter. Even it is minus 30C, we still smoke outdoor. no big deal.
When it is minus 20C, we go outside for say 30 minutes at most.
When it is minus 10C, it is nothing.
Snow covering (meaning snow on the ground) last for about 120 days a year in Toronto, usually from the end of December by Christmas to April the next year. Depth of snow varies every year from almost nothing to the most extreme in my 20 years, 15 feet.
Snow plowing is a national sport in Canada. About 6 times a winter, I have to spend about 8 hours for each time to clear the driveway before I can move my car. You can hire a professional plower to do it for you for about 200 dollars per winter. Every winter, about 10 people die because of heart attack while they are working on the driveway.
Is Vancouver better? Yes, not too cold, but still cold enough for a newbie in Canada. Vancouver keeps raining all the time, a nuisance to drive people out from the province. Simple think about cold and rain together. In Toronto, it is cold, but does not rain that much.
I am also from the south in China. It was difficult for me in the first winter. I came on March 5 20 yeas ago when Toronto was just hit by a snow storm and the temperature was about minus 25C. I almost turned back for China.
I stayed of course. Now, winter is nothing. I am expecting it to come for skiing and skating and ice fishing.
How about other parts of Canada: colder than Toronto.

冬季:时间长(8至10个月),异常寒冷;
夏季:寒冷而短促;
冬季夜晚,夏季昼日长达24小时;
冬季:时间长(6个月以上),寒冷;
夏季:凉而短促(3至4个月);
冬季:中部寒冷(约5个月)/东部和西南部(3-4个月);
夏季:4-5个月,温暖,有时潮湿;
冬季:寒冷(约5个月);
夏季:凉爽(约5个月);
夏季:凉爽;
冬季温和,很少在0°以下;
夏季:温暖(4-5个月);
