1、wait的基本意思是“等”,指在相当长的一段时间内停留在某个地方,直到某事发生或某人到来为止。
2、wait主要用作不及物动词,常与介词for连用。
3、wait用作及物动词通常用来指耐心地“等,等待”。在这种用法中其宾语仅限于hour, time, turn, return, arrival, opportunity, chance, orders, a fine day, aid, the result, the signal, convenience等名词。
