特殊疑问句是就句中的某一部分提问的疑问句.它的句首用疑问词,句尾的声调下降.它与一般疑问句的区别在于：它不能用yes 或no来回答.常用的疑问代词有what,which,who,whom,whose,疑问副词有when,where,why和how等.例如：
What's this in English?
What color is it?
How much are these pants?
When is your birthday?
特殊疑问句的构成可分两类：
1． 当疑问代词做主语或修饰主语时,它的语序和陈述句相同.例如：
Who are in the classroom?
Who is your English teacher?
What's your favorite color?
2． 当疑问代词作表语、宾语或修饰表语和宾语,或疑问副词作状语或修饰状语时,它要用倒装词序.有一点需要说明的是：当疑问代词或疑问副词修饰的名词是介词的宾语时,除正式语体外通常要把介词放在句尾.例如：
What do you do?
Why do you like koalas?
What's she doing?
Who are you looking at?
