More people speak English than those who speak the Arabic and French languages combined.  Moreover, English is the international language of diplomacy, business, science, law, technology, banking, computing, medicine, aviation, United Nations, engineering, tourism, and Hollywood films and arguably the best pop and rock music in the world.  In summary English is the lingua franca of modern communication. Having a good command of English is important to everyone.
