Bob had a terrible toothache. It kept him awake all night. He couldn’t eat anything cold or hot. If Bob ate anything sweet, the pain could nearly kill him.
The next morning, Bob went to work. He did not want to ask for leave from work because he had just got this new job, he liked it very much, and he didn’t want to lose it. So he had to take some medicin every two hours to stop the pain.
However, the tooth hurt so much when he tried to eat his lunch. He knew he had to see a dentist.
He asked his boss for two hours’ leave. The boss could see that Bob was in great pain, and told him to rest for half a day.
After examining his teeth carefully, the dentist said, ―I can see the problem. There is a hole in one tooth. I’m afraid the hole is too big to fill. I must pull the tooth out.‖
―That’s all right,‖ Bob said, ―Just stop the pain.‖
The dentist pulled out the tooth and dropped it into the litter basket. ―Don’t throw it away,‖ Bob said, ―Let me have it, please.‖ ―Why do you want the bad tooth back?‖ the dentist asked.
―I want to take revenge on it. I’m going to take it home, put it in a bowl of hot water with honey and watch it experience the pain.‖ Bob said.
