In January, an increasing number of people in London, UK, became infected with the new coronavirus. With a “No Lockdown ” movement, I was worried about how this was going to end.
After receiving the Sinovac vaccine , I felt all good in my first few months back in the UK since I arrived last September. In my lessons, wearing a mask was not a must, but I always wore one. During the 2021 summer term, many students at my school tested positive for the virus, but I didn’t.
During the Christmas holiday, it’s traditional to go shopping. As I was staying in Birmingham with my host family, I went to the city center with them to experience a different vibe (. That’s probably how I got infected with the virus.
School re-opened on Jan 4. I was surprised to test positive. I had to stay isolated in a special room of our boarding house. With my meals delivered three times a day, the worst symptom I had was a fever of 38.9 C. I also had a runny nose and sore throat . Luckily, the Chinese medicines I brought with me helped, not to mention the Sinovac vaccine.
As I write this story, I still have the virus, but my symptoms have nearly gone. I have only a headache. From my point of view, the British people did not take the virus seriously. Everything was being settled with calls to “live with COVID”.
