This mail is to thank you for everything that you have done for me during the one month I stay in America.
I studied for one month in America as an exchange student. Altough it is not a long time, you really helped me a lot, no matter on life or my study. As a newcomer, it is you who give me the meticulous care, which makes me feel warm like a famliy. As a Chinese student, it is you who helped me patiently, which benifit my English and study a lot.
I really appreciate all of these, and I also really miss this period. I hope that we can keep in touch.

I am Li hua, I just came back from the US after spending a month there as an exchange student from China. During that month, I had the opportunity to live in an American host family where I got to know Mrs． White， the hostess． A month is a short period of time and for me， that month living with Mrs． White seemed extraordinarily short． Everyday， Mrs． White taught me English both in a formal and an informal way． The first day when I moved into Mrs． White＇s house， she pulled me over and said to me in a very serious manner， ＂Li，we should schedule one hour everyday when I can teach you English，and in exchange， you should teach me how to prepare Chinese food． For that， we don＇t have to schedule any particular time．＂ I can still remember the way Mrs． White looked as she said these． So， from the first day after I moved to Mrs． White＇s house， I became a formal student of Mrs． White， during which period， I learned quite a few American idioms from Mrs． White， such as， ＂Do as the Romans do，“ ＂Whenever there is a will， there is a way，＂ and ＂There is a light at the end of the tunnel，＂ etc． During this month， I also taught Mrs． White a few Chinese dishes， such as ＂ Ants climb over the trees． Everyday， Mrs． White and I had so many things to do and felt time just flying by． Before we realized it， one month was over and it was time for me to leave． Mrs． White couldn＇t bear the thought that I would soon leave and go back to China． I was also quite upset that I would leave Mrs． White， with whom I spent the most memorable month in my life． For that， Mrs． White and I decided that we should spend a month together every year from，now on． I am thrilled to have had Mrs． White， an ordinary American housewife， as my English teacher， and I am equally excited that each of us will be an exchange student to other＇s country every other year．
