when we are set to sail I will need you to help brail the main sail with the others.

As I reach my post and waited until the main sheet was untied along with four other men we began to pull the sail up the mask. One the sail had reach the top one man tied her off and we went about our other duties. I gather a bucket with rope and haul water form the sea to the deck finding the mop and hollystone. (( Hollystone is a piece of sandstone about the size of a bible used to scrub the decks.))

At started my work at the bow of the ship working my way from side to side towards the aloft deck where the wheel house was situated. From time to time I would glance up and see the captain, his first mate and Mason watching me as I work. By noon I had made it the aloft deck.
