1. expect + 名词/代词： 意思是“期待某人或某物”。

例句：I am expecting a telephone call from Tom.

我正在等汤姆的电话。

例句：Both leaders seemed to expect measurable progress.

两位领导好像都期待着显著的进展。

2. expect + （somebody）to do something: 期待（某人）做某事。

例句：I expect him to finish the work on his own.

我期待他自己完成工作。

例句：I expect to meet you next week.

我期待下周见到你。

3. expect + 从句：料想、预料的意思。

例句：I expect that he will be back tomorrow.

我预计他明天回来。

例句：I expect you're tired.

我想你是累了。

注意，宾语从句如果是否定句，常常否定转移到主句。

例句：I don’t expect that they have finished work.

我想他们还没有完成工作。
