and连接的词作主语时，谓语动词用单数还是复数，要根据具体内容来决定，没有就近或就远原则说法。
1 and 连接的词，如果是指不同的个体，谓语动词用复数。如
1） My pen and pencil are in my schoolbag .
我的钢笔和铅笔在我的书包里。

2）My sister and I are students .
我和我姐姐是学生。

2 and 连接的词，如果是指同一个个体，谓语动词用单数。如
1） The teacher and writer is from China .
那个老师兼作家来自中国。
2） The singer and dancer looks very beautiful.
那个歌唱家兼舞蹈家看起来很漂亮。
