I prefer to use adjective other than adverb in this blank.

the reason is simple enough.

First off, the adjective is always behind the 'BE' verb to give a detail of the none expecting to express.

Secondly, since the teacher asks us something in her class, then the 'more active' is better choice than 'active' only.

Sometimes there is not specific reason to explain my choice, but just following my feeling. That's it.

while each of two is acceptable, but English is very feasible language to speak in our daily chat. I choose option D is my personal preference, but you can keep your bet if you insist on Chinese way of learning in English.
