The Spring Festival is one of the most important traditional festivals in China. It falls on the first day of the first month in the Chinese lunar calendar.
Before the day, people are busy preparing for it and they stick New Year couplets on the doors. On the Eve, the whole family usually get together to have a feast. Then they stay up, watching wonderful programs on TV until midnight, to welcome the new year with firecrackers. In the daytime, people dressed in new clothes go to visit friends with good luck to each other. During the holiday, they can enjoy a variety of activities, such as going to parks or temples.
