两者在含义，使用场合和使用功能上均有不同，如下：

一.含义及例句：

1、what about you表示：做什么事情

• A:i like english ,chinese and math, what about you?

  B:me too.

  我喜欢英语，语文和数学，你喜欢什么呢？ 我也是。

2、how about you表示：怎么样或怎样做某件事

• A:i take school bus go to school,how about you?

  B:bike. 

  我乘坐公共汽车去上学，你怎么去呢？骑自行车。

二.使用场合：

What about … 和 how about … 是英语口语中常用的两个省略句型，它们的意思和用法基本相同，常常用在以下场合。例如：  

1. 向对方提出建议或请求。例如：

• How about going out for a walk? 出去散散步好吗？

• What about another cake? 再吃块蛋糕好吗？  

2.征询对方的看法或意见。例如：

1. 当对方谈论的事情不明确，需要询问清楚时，可用这一句型。如：
