如果完全按照语法的话应该用
He has/had been married to my mother for sixty-four years.
但是因为 married 既可以理解为点动词，又有形容词含义，如果理解为形容词，那其本身就是持续性的状态，是可以用 was married ...for....

2，and help the men ready for those relationships to be recognized for what they can and are willing to bring to the table
我的理解是这里的 for 不是与 recognized 连接，而是与what ... 连接， 与前面的 ready for 并列，
因为to be recognized 是不定式做定语修饰 relationships

and help the men ready for those relationships to be recognized, (ready) for what(=the things that) they can and are willing to bring to the table

其次，还要看上下文
帮助这个男人准备好去认识那些关系（可能是结婚导致的新的亲戚关系），准备好他们可以又愿意带到桌上的东西 （可能指结婚礼物）

这里的意思应该是 understand. get 有很多释意（一词多义）很多都需要掌握。
