I have to apologize for unable to go to your dinner last evening, despite the fact that I had accepted your invitation beforehand. The reason of my absence is that I had a very important project to be finished last night, and to be handed in this morning. I feel upset for my rudeness, and hope to repay your kindness next time, probably to invite you to my home to have a meal together. How is that sound?
