Larry Belmont works in a pany manufacturing androids. Recently,the pany wanted to conduct an experiment for an android with house-cleaning abilities.
This experiment would be conducted by Larry's wife,Claire.
Claire did not want to have the android in the house initially, especially during the the three-week period in which her hu *** and wouldn't be around.But Claire was convinced by Larry eventually.
He told her that the android would not harm her , nor let anyone else harm her. However, she was quite shocked when she first saw the android. The android's name was Tony, and he didn't seem lika an android at all.
Although he was expressionless, he was tall, handsome, had a head of shining black hair, and a deep and pleasant voice.
The next morning, Tony brought her breakfast ,and asked if she needed help in dressing. She felt a little embarassed and sent him off. She felt a little worried and annoyed at how human the android was like.
One day, Claire mentioned that she wasn't *** art at all. Tony replied that Claire must have felt very unhappy to have said something like that.
Claire felt that to have an android expressing its pity to her was ridiculous. She began to trust Tony.
She told Tony that to a person like Larry, who wanted to raise his social status, she was not beautiful enough, and her home was not elegant enough either.
She was different from Gladys Clefen(?),who was a famous woman with status and power.
Tony wanted Claire to cheer up, wanted to help Claire and her home to bee beautiful and elegant. Therefore, Claire borrowed stacks of books from the library for Tony to read or browse through.
She watched his fingers, turning the pages in amazement , and touched his fingers out of strong curiosity.
The feel of his fingernails and his soft,warm fingers amazed her. She though to herself, "This is ridiculous, he's just an android!"
Tony gave Claire a new hairstyle, and changed a set of clothes for her. Claire was unwilling to let Tony go shopping with her, so Tony gave her a shopping list instead.
Claire headed down to the city to buy curtains, cushions, carpets and paint. Then she went into a boutique. The salesperson was very rude to her, so she called Tony, and let the salesperson speak to Tony.
The salesperson changed her attitude immediately. Claire thanked tony, and called him a "cute person."
Just as she turned around, she saw Gladys Clefen standing there. "This is bad,"Claire thought to herself, "Gladys found out."
Judging from Gladys's interesting and surprised look on her face, Claire knew that Gladys must have thought that she was having an affair, as she knew that her hu *** and was Larry and not Tony.
Claire was so angry that she burst into tears when she reached home. Gladys's actions are what Claire wished she could imitate. Tony told Claire that she could be like Gladys, and even suggested to her to invite her friends
over, by the time that Tony would be gone and Larry would be back. Tony hoped that the house would be successfully transformed by then.
