3 reasons why do we need to study history?
1 - we study history so that we will not make the same mistakes over and over again!
Here are some other reasons to study history:
by studying the different ways that other cultures live, we can learn new and better ways for our culture to live
by studying why people fight and have wars, we can try to prevent fighting and end war
by studying how things have already been done, we can try new and better ways of doing things
by studying other beliefs, we can learn to appreciate every person's ideas and to value our own opinions
by studying how people have adapted to different environments on Earth, we can plan how to adapt to new environments, and maybe eventually plan how to survive off planet

I could never understand that either. I always thought "this stuff has happened, so why does it matter - why do I have to memorize all of these useless facts?"
Well, the truth of the matter is that history does repeat itself and it's best to be prepared for it by knowing the outcomes of previous instances and being able to make educated decisions based off of these that will help to a greater degree in the long run.
But my honest opinion: unless you are wanting to be a historian or politician, history shouldn't be first on your academic priority list.

I never understood why we needed to learn social studies either, until I realized one day that we are living history. Can you imagine people in fifty years learning about us - everything, the election of the first African-American president, the economy right now, the many wars that the world is involved with? When we learned about the American Civil War in school, I noticed many connections between the people then and us now. We are all trying to make our country a better place - it's just that we have different ideas to solve all of our problems.
Also, history repeats itself. Who knows, what we learn right now about the past may come back to help us in the future! The teachers just want to help us solve whatever problems the future holds. So keep studying social studies - you might learn to like it one day!

1.1.Today is Mid-autumn festival, it is one of the most important festivals in China. My mom was busy in the morning because we had a big dinner with my relatives tonight. We went to the supermarkets to buy a lot of food and fruits, and so do moon cakes.
During the dinner, we ate, talked and laughed. We enjoyed the food and mooncakes.
After the dinner, my cousins and I went to the park to play. The moon was full round. We lit up the lanterns and played around in the park. It was fun!!!!!!

2.Today is Chinese festival----The Mid-Autumn.It falls on the 15th of August.The Mid-Autumn is a very important festival.We have three-day hoildays in this year's Mid-Autumn.My mother bougth moon cakes.Today is Mid-Autumn.I had erhu class for one hour in the morning.After lunch I had physics class for two hours.Then I went home.I saw my little brother in my home.I was really happy.He and me played computer games and watched TV.After supper we enjoyed the moon and looked for Chang'e.We ate moon cakes.They were delicious.We had fun on this Mid-Autumn.
