Students who have switched their home major still need to abide by the maximum period of study stipulated in the Academic Regulations for Undergraduate Degrees.
If the completion of the switched major requires a student to study additional credit units exceeding the maximum credit limit of 144 for normative 4-year degrees permitted by the University, the major-offering academic unit will stipulate a ceiling for additional credit units to be permitted for approval by the Associate Provost (APUE). If such approval is not granted, the consent from the major-offering academic unit for the switching of majors request will be rescinded, and the student will not be allowed to switch the home major.
If approval is granted for exceeding the maximum credit limit, the student will be required to continue to pay tuition fees at the UGC rate (or non-local rate for non-local students) until completion of the extra credit units permitted for the switched major. Notwithstanding the above, if the student subsequently pursues a double major, any extra credit units exceeding the maximum credit limit of 144 should be paid on a self-financing basis.
