CAD DesignerJob Number: 36589236Santa Clara Valley, California, United StatesPosted: Nov. 22, 2014Weekly Hours: 40.00Job SummaryThe Battery Product Development team at Apple produces high energy and highly reliable embedded battery systems for all product teams. Tightly integrated with Product Development, Operations, Industrial Design and Reliability Testing groups, the Battery Product Development team owns battery module development from initial system architecture through ramp. The Battery Cell Mechanical Engineering Design Group works within the Battery Product Development organization and is the primary design resource for our battery cells, which are integrated into battery modules and then into products. The Battery Cell Mechanical Designer is an individual contributor role. The Battery Cell Mechanical Designer works with Battery Cell Mechanical Engineers to create the overall battery cell design from initial system architecture through first customer ship.
Key QualificationsEXPERIENCE3+ years experience using and implementing integrated CAE solutions in multi-physics environments, centered on product design and developmentSpecific experience designing portable consumer electronic products or high volume products is highly desirable.SKILLSDesign and 3D CAD experience required, Siemens NX preferredDisciplined in GD&T practices with close attention to datum establishment and tolerance analysisMust be highly data-driven and detail focused.Excellent written and verbal communication skills and people skills; ability to interact with management, team members and external vendorsTeamwork: the candidate must be able to communicate well with cross- functional team members, be able to efficiently collaborate with team members to achieve project goals, and contribute positively to the engineering communityDescription• With direction from the Battery Cell Mechanical Engineer, develop 3-D models and 2-D prints for all Battery Cell Components, tooling and fixtures. • Conduct drawing quality reviews. • Release models and drawings into Apple’s document control system.
