帮助我检查英语语法? 所有必须是现在时
Jordan Baker is not only a liar but also a careless person. Her driving is so out of control that her “ [car’s] fender flicked a button on one man’s coat” as she drives by (59). She expects other drivers to “keep out of [her] way”, and in doing so no accidents would occur because it “takes two to make an accident” (59). Thinking that so long as other drivers are driving cautiously, Jordan can drive without caution. She is neglectful to the point of endangering her own life as well as those of others.
The Buchanans are “careless people” who “smashed up things and then retreated back into … their vast carelessness” (170). Tom and Daisy wreck both Gatsby and his dream of attaining Daisy, leaving the “mess” for others to clean up after them (170). When Buchanans realize they are wrong, they withdraw from the situation and let other people “pay” for their careless mistake (170).
People who attend Gatsby’s parties show carelessness in their actions, many are found either injured in an accident or dead. One example of this is the drunken driver who drives his car directly into a ditch, narrowly escapes death. As he climbs out of the wrecked car, he asks calmly “Did we run outta gas?” (55). He should not drive if he’s impaired. This driver is beyond careless; he is drunk to the point that he thinks that the car is stopping only for gas not because he is in an accident.
Did we run outta gas? is a quotation, therefore it cannot be changed to "out of" 展开
