Long, long ago, there was an old man who had three sons. One day he called them and said,“Sons, I'm going to die. I will give half my horses to my first son, one third to my second one and one ninth to my youngest son.” Now the old man had 17 horses, and the three brothers didn't know how to share(分配) them as their father said. They thought a long time about the problem, and they didn't want to kill some of the horses or cut them into pieces. At last they went to see one of their father's old friends and asked for his advice(建议). As soon as he heard the story, he said,“I'll help you. I think your father is a great man. I'm old. I have one horse, but take it—it is yours.” The three sons took the old man's horse. They found that it was easy to share the horses now. The first took half—nine horses; the second took one-third—that was six; and the youngest took one-ninth—that was two. Only when each had got his horses, they saw that there was only one left. They gave it back to the old man. F。 The old man was badly ill. A T B F In order to share the horses, the brothers had to kill one of them. A T B F Their father's friend knew how to share the horse. A T B F The eldest brother got more horses than the other two. A T B F The brothers shared all the eighteen horses. A T B F

根据短文第二句话“…I'm going to die.” 由短文第三段第一句话“…they didn't want to kill some of the horses…” 由第三段最后四句“I'll help you. …I have one horse, but take it—it is yours.” 由“The first took half—nine horses.” 5. 由最后两句“…they saw that there was only one left. They gave it back to the old man.”
