(1) Would you please lock the door behind you?

(2) Could l use your telephone for a while?

这里的过去式语气动词，表示“客气”。

(3) lt might rain this afternoon.

(4) The eyewitness’s evidence could be false.

这里的过去式语气动词表示“可能性低”，也就是对所提的事“存有怀疑”或“不甚确定”。

我们考试中常见的虚拟语气是“纯虚拟”的 就是形式上和意思上都是虚拟的 如：
I wish l had made a right decision.
真希望我当时做了正确决定。
（也就是说当时并没做正确决定 也就是“与过去事实相反”）

而“半虚拟”只是在形式上是“虚拟”的 而并没有与事实相反之意
而是表示“可能性” 如：
Could l use your telephone for a while?
lt might rain this afternoon.
