1、not a single没有一个,that might have indicated that the pebbles came from the nearby continent是修饰pebble的定语从句~~
2、可以借用not...until句型来翻译。Many scholars didn't believe that...until the late 1970s.中didn't believe 中的否定其实来自于that宾语从句。通常我们翻译“他认为她是不对的。”时译为“He dosen't think she is right.”而不译为“He thinks she isn't right.”所以不写成not until,因为not来自于后面的宾语从句。
