这句话副词是修饰句子的吗?

Although there are certainly traits which are typical of men whereas others which are typical of women.

1.这句话里面certainly 这个副词修饰的是是整个句子吗？如果是的话那为什么要放在traits前面？
2.我觉得直接换成certain修饰traits意思改变也不大，大家怎么觉得？
3.这句话首先语法应该没问题吧？
后面那句我能写成,whereas others being typical of women吗？
或者whereas others are typical of women(这样改的话句子成分好像有点问题但说不出来哪里有问题）
