Now 38, Bernstein and Schein were twins. They were adopted by different families 36 years ago. Though they grew up only miles from each other in New York City,neither girl knew that she had a twin sister.
During their growing years, both girls had the same experiences: "We were each monitor of our high school, and
went on to study art," says Bernstein. Both young women spent time in Paris, and later worked as artists: Bernstein as a
writer, and Schein as a singer.
